Applying for Place on Ballot

In order for a candidate to be placed on the Friendswood General Election Ballot they must file a sworn and signed Application for a Place on the Ballot, a Petition of at least 25 residents sponsoring the candidate noted on the application and a Financial Disclosure Statement.  Failure to file anyone of the three forms will invalidate the candidate's filing for office.   See Sections 6.02(b) and 6.02(d) of the Charter, City of Friendswood, Texas.  

In addition to the above noted items, a candidate will need to submit Form CTA - Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer by a Candidate (Texas Ethics Commission) before spending or receiving monies in relation to the election in question.

It is the candidate’s responsibility to become familiar with the law applicable to campaigns for office. While the candidates may certainly expect the City Secretary Office to be able to advise them when reports are due, the City Secretary Office is limited to serving as a notary, accepting and filing the various applications, affidavits and statements by noting the date and time of the filing.

The period to apply for a place on the ballot for the May 7, 2022 General Officer’s Election is: Wednesday, January 19, 2022 beginning at 8:00 A.M. through to and including Friday, February 18, 2022 by 5:00 P.M.
