What you need to know...

Laura is a Category 4 hurricane with winds above 145 miles per hour. It could be even stronger when it makes landfall along the Texas-Louisiana border late Wednesday night. Significant storm surge and wind damage to our east is predicted. The biggest threat to Friendswood is tropical storm force winds arriving after 8 p.m. Wednesday.

You are encouraged to stay off the roads tonight. If you must travel, please use extreme caution, avoiding emergency vehicles and work crews.

Friendswood is NOT under an Evacuation Order.

Residents should secure their property and be prepared for power outages.

Please walk around your yard and look for items that might become airborne in a strong wind. Please put those items indoors and secure larger items outside.

Trash collection ended Wednesday at 2 p.m. It resumes Thursday at 8 a.m.
