Remembering Paul O'Farrell, Friendswood's first Mayor
Mayor Mike Foreman has directed flags at Friendswood City Hall to be at half-staff in honor and memory of Paul O'Farrell, the first mayor of Friendswood, who passed away on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Mr. O’Farrell was an Air Force veteran. He opened his Friendswood realty office in 1956. Later, he was active with the Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department.
In 1960, he gathered a group of people to put in motion a plan for the incorporation of the City of Friendswood. At the first City election, in January 1961, he was elected the City’s first mayor.
"We are grateful to Mr. O'Farrell for his leadership roles in Friendswood government and business," said Mayor Foreman. "We send our deepest condolences to his family."
