A come and go event. 


Each hour is a different program.  Come to the presentations that are of interest to you.  You are welcome to bring snacks.  The room does have a limit of ten people at a time. The program schedule is:

10am - Street Names and Numbers: Grid Changes, Renaming, and More presented by Thomas MacEntee  

11am - Expanding The Details From Published Local Histories presented by J. Mark Lowe, CG, FUGA 

noon - Mother Nature's Impact on Family Migration & Relocation presented by Wayne Shepheard  

1pm - Matrimonio a la española: Spanish marital customs & marriage records presented by Daniel Smith-Ramos  

2pm - Collaboration and Correspondence for DNA presented by Paul Woodbury 

3pm - Tracing Your Pre-WWI British Soldier presented by Paul Milner  

4pm - Organization: The Key to Successful Research presented by  Teri E. Flack

Hosting Chess Play

Join FPL's Chess.com Club! 


Tournament play on Tuesdays at 6:30pm and 7:30pm
  
Whether you attended our Wednesday night chess club pre-COVID-19, The Queens Gambit got you hooked, or you just want to network and play with local chess enthusiasts, come play with us!  We will be using the online platform Chess.com.   

If you already have an account with Chess.com, sign in and search for Friendswood Public Library Chess Club.  Otherwise, click on this link   www.chess.com/club/friendswood-public-library-chess-club and create an account to get started.  Tuesday each week, register the hour before to participate in the tournament.  A minimum of four players is required for the tournament to begin.

eReaders Available For
Checkout


Do you want access to more books with large print?  We can help!  The Friendswood Public Library offers a limited number of eReaders for checkout and a selection of eBooks from OverDrive.  We will load your requested books on the reader prior to checkout.

These eReaders may be borrowed by Friendswood Public Library adult cardholders (18 years or older) with accounts in good standing. Checkout is limited to one per household at any given time.

Friends of the Library

Love The Library?


Become a Friend of Friendswood Library  for as little as a $10 annual membership.  The Friends meet the first Tuesday of the month for an hour to discuss service initiatives, outreach, and fundraising activities.  Meetings are optional but the Friends would love to hear from you.  Become a Friend online through the Friendswood Library website or in person at the library’s circulation desk. 

The Friends have helped the Friendswood Library obtain library equipment such as a portable document scanner, Oculus Rift Virtual Reality System, a display case, Wi-Fi Hot Spots, and prizes for Summer Reading. The Friends also sponsor many library programs and events throughout the year including ZakiCon, May the Fourth Be With You, the Ekphrastic Poetry Contest, music performances, and others.
