Shredding Event

FREE Shredding Event this Saturday!

After redistricting realigned the precinct lines within the county map, new areas now fall within Precinct 2’s boundaries. Under the new precinct lines, County Commissioner Adrian Garcia is now responsible for the Harris County portion of Friendswood.

As part of a “Listening Tour” to meet communities and their leaders, Commissioner Garcia, along with staff met with Friendswood Mayor Mike Foreman and members of his senior staff. During this virtual meeting, the discussion focused on Friendswood’s needs and Precinct 2’s ability to help. This was the first time a Harris County Precinct met with Friendswood leadership in at least a decade. During the discussions, Mayor Foreman and team mentioned several areas needing assistance. Commissioner Garcia and team described several partnering and funding options, including the Partnership Projects program.

As part of that partnership, Precinct 2 and Friendswood announce Document Secure Shredding event Saturday, Jan. 29, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Frankie Carter Randolph Park (5150 FM-2351). Secure Sierra Shred will destroy documents or records the community brings to the event. Come early, shredding ends when truck is full. Sierra Shred is bonded and insured according to state and federal regulations regarding information destruction. Materials are all recycled. For information about the event, contact Harris County Precinct 2 Bay Area Houston Liaison, Doug Peterson (713-264-1629).

Automated Water Meter Upgrades
Ameresco Crew Uniforms

Automated Water Meter Upgrades Have Started

The City of Friendswood has started the process of replacing each water meter within the City.  The new meters (pictured above) are equipped with advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), which will allow the City to automatically and electronically read meters. Upon completion of the project, these readings will be uploaded to a customer portal which will provide daily information for each customer to view from a secured website.

The City is working with Ameresco to replace each meter.  Ameresco’s teams will be properly identified in trucks, and uniforms with safety vests like the one in the picture.

Residential meter replacements typically take less than 30 minutes at each location, during which, the water to your home or facility will be shut off.  The Ameresco team will not have to come inside your home.   All commercial accounts will be scheduled individually with associated owners.
