Arrest Made in Assault Case, Suspect Apprehended After Evading Authorities
On May 24, 2024, Jose Angel Patino, of Houston, assaulted a 21-year-old Houston woman who had to be transported to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The Friendswood Police Department received a call on May 24, 2024, from two women who were approached by a 21-year-old female asking for help and visibly hurt. Upon further investigation, Friendswood Police found that the woman had been assaulted by Patino who was known to be driving a black Jeep SUV and staying in the area. Officers in the area located a black Jeep SUV driving in the roadway. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled from officers. They located the vehicle a few blocks away abandoned but still running in the 16800 block of Hibiscus Lane. The vehicle was stolen and had several license plates in it. Officers received information that Patino had been staying near the area where the vehicle was located. The initial investigation encountered challenges as Patino attempted to evade authorities and was assisted by family members who hindered his arrest.
On May 29, 2024, Friendswood Police partnered with the US Marshal Violent Offenders Task Force to arrest Patino for outstanding warrants. Officers located him in the 6100 block of Longleaf Drive in Northwest Houston. When officers arrived, he attempted to evade on foot but was apprehended by a K9 officer. Patino was then transported to HCA Clear Lake to be treated for his injuries before being booked into the Friendswood jail. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office accepted the charge of Continuous Violence Against the Family.
Patino had multiple active warrants including Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon, Aggravated Assault of a Family Member, and Continuous Violence Against the Family.
