Black Trash Bags FAQ

The City of Friendswood is aware that many have been concerned about vegetative debris that has been bagged in black trash bags.  We wanted to take a moment to answer some questions that have been asked regarding this issue.

Will debris in black bags be picked up?
Yes, these bags will be collected. The black bags will need to be separated into their own pile. Bags will have to be visually verified (opened) to confirm it is vegetative debris and will take longer to be removed.
Why does the vegetative debris need to be visually verified?
Debris types go to different landfills and cannot be mixed.
Will you have to re-bag debris into clear trash bags?
No, although the clear bags will be picked up sooner because they can be visually verified to be vegetative debris all bags will still be collected.
Is there a limit to the number of bags that can be placed out for pick up?
No, there will be several passes for pick up.
