Crime Alert: HEB Incidents on August 14, 2024

Location: HEB, 701 W. Parkwood Avenue, Friendswood, TX

Incident Summary: On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 14, 2024, two separate scams occurred at the HEB located at 701 W. Parkwood Avenue. The incidents involved the same pair of suspects, who targeted two older individuals in the store and its parking lot.

Incident Details:

First Incident:
- Time: 3:45 p.m.
- Victim: 59-year-old man from Alvin
- Details: The victim was approached by the suspects inside the store. Unable to understand their conversation due to a language barrier, he was distracted as they manipulated his wallet. During this encounter, the suspects stole his credit card and subsequently used it to make unauthorized withdrawals from his bank account and his daughter’s bank account. These transactions were completed at the Chase Bank located in the HEB parking lot.

Second Incident:
- Time: Approximately 4:07 p.m.
- Victim: a 69-year-old man from League City
- Details: As the victim was exiting the store, a male and female approached him and falsely claimed that he had dropped cash at the register. They insisted that he place the money in his wallet, during which time the male suspect stole his credit card. The victim only realized the theft after returning home and receiving an email from his bank about a declined transaction due to an incorrect PIN. Surveillance video at HEB captured the entire incident.

Suspect Descriptions:

Male Suspect:
- Description: Middle Eastern or Hispanic, in his 40s, with a beard and light brown skin tone.
- Clothing: Dark-colored baseball cap, a long-sleeved white and pinkish striped shirt, light-colored shorts, light-colored shoes, and designer sunglasses hanging from the center of his button-up shirt.
Female Suspect:
- Description: 30-40-year-old Middle Eastern or Hispanic, with dark hair
- Clothing: light-colored hat with a medium round brim, white v-collar dress with printed long sleeves, light-colored purse, flat light-colored sandals, , and sunglasses.
