Friendswood Academy

Calling all Friendswood residents! Ever wonder how our city runs? Join the Friendswood Academy—an exclusive, 8-week program where you'll dive into the workings of every city department! Gain insider knowledge, meet city leaders, and see firsthand how Friendswood operates. Classes are Tuesdays, 6-8 pm, but hurry—spots are limited! Secure your place today and be part of something truly special. Apply now to learn more about the city you call home!

Applications will be accepted through December 31, 2024, in the City Secretary's Office via email to citysecretary@friendswood.com or by mail/in person to the attention of the City Secretary, 910 S. Friendswood Drive, Friendswood, Texas 77546. Applicant requirements are the following:

  • Must be a Friendswood resident for at least 2 years.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must commit to attending all classes and activities related to the program.

Christmas Holiday Closures

Friendswood City Hall, Municipal Court, and Senior Activity Building will be closed December 25-26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Friendswood Library will be closed December 24-26 for the Christmas Holiday. Lake Friendswood Park will be closed December 24-25.

Trash and Recycling Pick-Up

The City of Friendswood’s Trash and Recycling collection vendor, Waste Connections, will not be working on Christmas Day, Wednesday, December 25. Services will resume on the next regularly scheduled pick-up day following the holiday.

Christmas Tree Disposal

Undecorated or decorated trees  must be placed curbside by 7 a.m. on your regular heavy trash pick-up day (1st garbage pick-up day of the week) to be collected.


Christmas Tree Recycling

Real and bare (no flock, tinsel, or decorations) Christmas trees can be dropped off at Lake Friendswood Park starting January 2 through January 19.
