Traffic Accident Causes Power Outage

At approximately 2:42 AM, the Friendswood Police Department responded to a call for a single vehicle accident on Sunset Drive between Briarmeadow Avenue and Murphy Lane. The driver went off the roadway and struck a light pole,causing a tree to catch on fire, and a widespread power outage. The driver was able to exit the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital by Friendswood EMS. The Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the tree fire. The roadway remains closed at this time and TNMP crews are on scene working to restore power in the area.
