REMINDER About Vegetation in Right of Ways
It’s that time of year! City crews receive requests from school districts, Emergency Services, Trash Collection Contractors, and other large vehicle owners to trim trees that do not adhere to City ordinances. The City does not have an arborist on staff, City crews will trim trees to provide clearance, not aesthetics. You are encouraged to maintain your trees and vegetation within the City’s Right-of-Ways to avoid penalties and trees not being trimmed to your personal specifications.
Tree height requirements are:
- The clear vision area is a minimum 10 feet over the curb
- Tree clearance over roadways is 15 feet
- No new trees allowed in public utility easements or in public street rights-of-way including replacement of trees damaged by storm, disease, etc.
- Vegetation max height is 36 inches in clear vision areas (corners of street intersections)
Residents are reminded to not plant trees or plants near or under power lines. They are dangerous to maintain and the power companies can come and clear any vegetation from their Right-Of-Way. You can find the Ordinance here.
