Houston-Galveston Area Council Safety Action Plan Open House - January 15

The City of Friendswood is partnering with the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) on a Safety Action Plan aimed at reducing traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. Using a data-driven Safe System Approach, the plan will identify projects and strategies to improve safety for all road users.

Residents are encouraged to attend the H-GAC Safety Action Plan open house at the Friendswood Public Library, 416 S. Friendswood Dr. on Thursday, January 15, from 6:00–8:30 PM.

Touch a Truck Event - January 24

Don’t miss our second annual Touch a Truck event, now at a new location in the senior lot at Friendswood High School! This family-friendly event gives kids the chance to get up close with all kinds of trucks from emergency vehicles and excavators to food trucks and more.

A sensory-friendly hour from 10:00–11:00 a.m. will be held with no sirens or horns, providing a quieter environment so everyone can enjoy the experience.

City of Friendswood Updating Its Comprehensive Plan

The City of Friendswood is updating its Comprehensive Plan. A City's Comprehensive Plan is like a 20-year roadmap for managing growth and shaping the community’s future. This long-range plan will guide how Friendswood grows and develops while preserving what makes our community unique.

The Comprehensive Plan will:

• Define a community-driven vision for the future
• Establish implementable goals for sustainable, resilient, and well-balanced development
• Provide guidance on land use, community character, housing, infrastructure, mobility, and economic development
• Assist City leaders in prioritizing investments andupdating local ordinances
• Serve as a foundation for future grants and funding opportunities

Community input is essential to this process. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and help shape Friendswood’s future by completing a short survey.
