The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is responsible for the emergency preparedness program with the Fire Marshal serving as the Emergency Management Coordinator. The OEM is responsible for the following:
Maintain and implement the City’s Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) and supplemental plans.
Develop and assist in the delivery of an effective public outreach program by providing and distributing emergency preparedness materials to citizens and businesses.Maintain compliance with the National Incident Management System (NIMS).
Train, educate, and prepare for emergencies through training programs, classes, drills and exercises.
Maintain the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) enabling quick activation to support any emergency or non-emergency operation utilizing an all hazards approach.
The Fire Marshal’s Office and the OEM strive to improve the city’s Public Safety response capabilities through planning efforts and coordination with both Harris and Galveston Counties.
