Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Hazard Mitigation Plan evaluates hazards which have the potential of affecting the city, analyze historical data of past events, and develop action items designed to mitigate the effects of future disasters or hazardous events. Hazards having the highest potential of affecting a large portion of the city’s population and infrastructure are:

  • Drought
  • Flood events
  • Hurricane/Storm Surge
  • Hurricane/Wind
  • Severe Thunderstorms
  • Storms/Hail/Lightning
  • Subsidence
  • Tornadoes

Current Plan

The City of Friendswood participates in two multi-jurisdictional plans: Galveston County Hazard Mitigation Plan, adopted March 17, 2017, and the Harris County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Action Plan, adopted June 1, 2020.
