Steve Vavrecka began his career in Public Works with the City of Pearland in 2000, working his way up to Supervisor of Water and Sewer Maintenance. In 2009, he took a position with the City of Rosenberg as Utilities Supervisor and in May 2012, Steve joined the City of Friendswood as Utilities Superintendent. In 2019, he was promoted to Deputy Director of Public Works and has served in this capacity since. Steve holds dual water and wastewater licenses with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) as well as a Certified Public Manager (CPM) designation from the University of Houston. Steve and his wife DeShana have been married for 25 years and have two adult children and a grandson. Together, they enjoy traveling, camping, hunting, and fishing.
