May 7, 2022 General and Special Election
The City of Friendswood shall hold joint elections with Harris County and Galveston County on May 7, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in order for residents to vote in General and Special Elections for the purpose of electing Councilmembers Position Nos. Four (4) and Six (6) and voting for or against proposed Charter Amendments.
A candidate for the City of Friendswood City Council must comply with all eligibility requirements noted in state law and the City's Charter.

- Section 3.02 "Qualifications" and Section 6.02(a) "Filing for Public Office" of the Charter, City of Friendswood, Texas.
CANDIDATE FILING AND INFORMATION:
A person interested in filing for a place on the May 7, 2022, Friendswood ballot can do so by filing a signed and sworn Application for a Place on the Ballot, a completed Election Petition in compliance with Section 6.02(b) and a completed Financial Public Disclosure Statement in compliance with Section 6.02(d) of the City's Charter.
In addition to the above noted items, a candidate will need to submit Form CTA - Appointment of a Campaign Treasurer by a Candidate (Texas Ethics Commission) before spending or receiving monies in relation to the election in question.
A candidate may file these four documents with the Friendswood City Secretary beginning on Wednesday, January 17, 2022 thru February 18, 2022, by 5:00 p.m. Please note that failure to file the petition and statement in compliance with the City's Charter will invalidate the candidate’s filing for office. All election notices are posted to the City's website and notice boards at City Hall and all formal actions related to elections are conducted and posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.
The Friendswood Charter Review Commission will submit a 2021 Charter Amendment Report to the City Council on January 10, 2022. More information will follow as it becomes available.
